Reason for failed bitcoin transactions or unconfirmed crypto transactions?

(The following article applies for both bitcoin and other crypto transaction on any blockchain)

If your Bitcoin transaction is unconfirmed for hours,
your network fee was likely set too low while the blockchain mempool is busy.
Your funds are secure and will either eventually confirm
when network traffic drops or get dropped entirely
by nodes after 1 to 2 weeks, returning the coins to your wallet.

Why It Is Stuck?
Low Fee Rate: You paid fewer satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB) than current competing transactions.
Network Congestion: High traffic means miners pick transactions with higher fees first.
Heavy congestion causes miners to skip lower-paying transactions in favor of higher-paying ones.

What You Can Do
Wait It Out: If the fee is not severely underpriced, it may clear within 24 to 72 hours
once network activity dips. If it is never picked up, the transaction expires
and your balance returns to your wallet.

Replace-by-Fee (RBF):
If your wallet enabled RBF when you sent the transaction,
you can use your wallet interface to bump or increase the fee.

Check Live Status:
Paste your Transaction ID (TxID) into a live tracker like bitaps or anyother btc, blockchain explorer.
to see your fee rate versus current network clearing rates

An unconfirmed Bitcoin transaction typically stays in the blaockchain mempool for about 2 weeks (14 days)
before most network nodes drop it and return the funds to the sender’s unspent balance.
However, individual nodes can set custom rules, meaning a transaction could theoretically
be rebroadcast and stay pending longer.
